IZMIR KATIP CELEBI UNIVERSITY
2012- 2013 ACADEMIC YEAR ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS & QOATAS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
In 2012- 2013 Academic Year, international students will be admitted to the allocated quotas listed below.
* Candidates who are currently seniors or have graduated from a secondary school and meeting the minimum score requirement of one of the exams listed in the announcement may apply to the undergraduate programs admitting international students.
* Candidates who apply to the programs admitting international students will be evaluated by the relevant units. By means of the evaluation, students who have become successful in the validated exams given on the attached table will be identified. These students will then be called for an interview by a commission formed by the relevant unit. The candidates who succeed in the interview will be eligible to register within the quotas allocated to the programs.
* IKCU is the only authority for the evaluation of the applicants and placement of candidates . IKCU has the right to or not to fulfill the quotas in the process of selecting and placing the candidates. Meeting the criteria for application does not guarantee admission to the programs.
* Applicants who do not fulfill the requirements of application will not be taken into evaluation.
A-Eligibility Requirements for Application
* Candidates who are currently seniors or have graduated from a secondary school and meet the minimum score requirement of one of the exams given in the post may apply to the undergraduate programs admitting international students.
The applications of those who are:
a) On condition that the applicants are studying in the last year of high school or who are high school graduates;
Ineligibility
b)The following applicants are ineligible to apply:
* The validity period of the examination scores (SAT, TQDK, GAOKAO, etc.) to be used for applications is two years. Accepted high school diploma scores are not subject to any validity period. There is no limitation for the validity period of the exams having the status of high school graduation exam ( Abitur, International Beccalaureate, GCE, Tawjihi etc.).
B-APPLICATIONS
1)Applications are made directly to Izmir Katip Celebi University Department of Student Affairs within the dates specified. It is obligatory to use only the specified application form. It should be filled online on the website http://ubs.ikc.edu.tr/AIS/AcademicProgram/W0121/Login.aspx. The required information and documents on the form should be submitted in a complete and accurate way. Moreover, the documents required for application should be submitted to the address " ‘İzmir Katip Çelebi Üniversitesi. Öğrenci İşleri Daire Başkanlığı - Atatürk Organize Sanayi Bölgesi (A.O.S.B) Mahallesi Havaalanı Şosesi No: 33/2 Balatçık 35620 Çiğli/İZMİR/ TÜRKİYE’ " in a complete and accurate format by post, cargo or in person. Applications should be delivered until August 13, 2012 at 17.00. Delays in post are not accepted.
2)Applicants can apply to maximum three programs by making an order of preference. These programs are stated in " Application Form For International Student Admissions".
Placement results and the letter of acceptance prepared by the Rectorate for the admitted applicants who are to register will be announced on the webpage " www.ikc.edu.tr" by Izmir Katip Celebi University Department of Student Affairs.
C-Documents Required for Application:
1. Notary approved copy of the high school diploma:Certified copy of high school diploma by a notary or Turkish Missions Abroad (Applicants who have not received their official high school diploma must submit an official document from their high schools stating their expected graduation date.) and its Turkish translation. The original diploma and a document of Equivalence (“Denklik Belgesi") which states that the high school diploma of the applicant is equivalent to a Turkish high school diploma will be required for registration.
2. Examination Result:Certified copy of the examination result (SAT, GCE etc.) by a notary in the applicant's country or Turkish Missions Abroad to be used for the application. (Must be issued within two years preceding the date of application.)
3. Application Form for International Student Admissions (Click here) : This form must be filled online. After you fill in and submit the application form online, you must print and sign it and then send it along with other documents. The forms sent merely as hardcopy without signature and the ones not submitted online will not be taken into evaluation.( You should sign the space next to your preferences at the bottom of the form.)
4. Official Transcript:Official transcript and its Turkish translation approved by the official institutions shows the subjects taken and grades received in high school.
5. Photocopy of passport:Notarized copy of Turkish translation of the identification page (with the photograph).
6. Two identical passport size photographs taken within the last six months.
*Note: Please note that due to the large number of applications submitted, application documents will not be retrocede after the admission process is over.
D-Required Documents for the Registration:
1-The original high school diploma and an “Equivalence Letter” from Ministry of Education of Turkey or from Turkish Consulates certifying that your diploma is equivalent to a Turkish High School Diploma,
2-Official transcript displaying all the years’ courses and grades of the applicants approved by your High School and its Turkish translated copy approved by the notary in the country of applicant or Turkish Mission Abroad,
3-The original copy of the submitted exam result and the translated copy (Turkish or English) approved by TR Embassy or Consulate,
4-“Student Visa” obtained from the Turkish Mission Abroad,
5-The copy of an internationally recognized English Proficiency Exam Result (if the applicant has one) for the departments with the English medium of instruction and Turkish Proficiency Exam Result approved by the nearest Turkish Mission Abroad for the departments with Turkish medium of instruction,
6-Residence Permit: International students benefitting from the quota are supposed to submit their Residence Permits taken from Provincial Directorate of Security to the Student Affairs Office after the registration procedures within a month from their registration date.
7-8 (eight) photographs the sizes of which are 4,5x6,0 cm. (Photographs should be taken within the last 6 months and the candidate should be easily recognized in the photograph.)
8-A document taken from Turkish Embassy/ Consulate certifying the Turkishness of the applicants who have Turkish origin
9-Application Fee Receipt displaying the first installment of the tuition fee,
10-Financial Support Statement
11-The passport and Turkish translated copy of it approved by T.R. Embassy/ Consulate or notary,
12-Identity numbers for Foreign nationals.
E-How to get General Health Insurance
Students registered to IKCU are to pay the general health insurance premium to the Social Security Institution of Turkish. Follow the steps below to get your general health insurance:
1.If you do not have a foreign identity number , apply for " Residence Permit" by submitting the " International Students Information Form" given to you after registration to the Foreigners Department of Izmir Provincial Security Directorate. ( It is required to obtain a residence permit so as to have a foreign identity number.)
2.After the " Residence Permit" is prepared by the relevant Security Directorate, you should take a printout with your name, surname and foreign identity number on it from the webpage https://tckimlik.nvi.gov.tr/ and submit it to the university you are registered to.
3.Make monthly payments to your nearest Social Security Provincial Directorate Office.

The Requirements and the Explanations for the Higher Education Programs Listed in the Table with the Title 'References'
Ref.17. The students deregistered from the program due to the failure in the preparatory class of the program can be placed in other programs with the same name and whose medium of instruction is Turkish by ÖSYM in accordance with the regulations determined by the Executive Council of Higher Education.
Ref. 21. In the first academic year, the students will be placed in the compulsory preparatory classes for English language education; those who succeed in the English Proficiency Test are enrolled directly in the first grade classes. The year of the preparatory classes for English language education is not included in the duration of education period displayed under the title 'Teaching Period' in the table. The students a) who can certify that they have succeeded in (regarding the criterion of the IKCU) one of the national and/or international foreign language tests accepted by IKCU, either submitting English Proficiency Result (TOEFL, IELTS, CPE, CAE, FCE, KPDS, ÜDS etc) to İzmir Katip Celebi University School of Foreign Languages or taking the Celebi Profiency Test (CPT). b) who succeed in the English Proficiency Exam which is held at the beginning of the academic year are directly enrolled in the first grade classes. (Consult the university for detailed information.)
